Not sure why it's taken me so long to write a review...Waleed and his amazing staff are amazing. Having visited several famous (and not so famous) eateries in Yemen, this place is the next best thing. I have tried some of the other Yemeni restaurants around town (who admittedly do serve good food), but none have come close to recreating the same taste and quality that I experienced in Yemen. The restaurant may not look like much, but if you're willing to take a chance, a meal at this restaurant will have you returning for more. I highly recommend the lamb haneeth, fahsa, fasooliya, foul and kibdah (lamb liver). The lamb and chicken agdah are also very tasty. Be sure to ask for some large sized Yemeni bread with your meal and finish it off with a banana or date Fattah (fattah mouz or fattah Tamar). The portions are large, so plan on taking food home. You can also try something different at each visit I'll take some pics the next time I stop in (which has been too long due to covid

It doesn't look much when you drive past this place but I am so glad I randomly decided to give it a try. I just want to say that it may look like a hole in the wall but this place has one of the most flavorful and tastiest food ever (not just Yemeni). The guy worker here is also super kind and helpful and just a great man. I ordered their lamb mandi and FAHSA with the Yemeni rashoosh fresh bread. My god was it amazing. Everything was fresh and was not at all cheapened you get a lot of quality food. Don't be discouraged by it's looks. I will most definitely be back.

This is my new favorite yemeni place. We got the galaba, soul and fasolia and we got bread with honey and salsa and their clove infused tea. The chicken and mutton galaba were also yum. Overall we had a great experience thanks to the welcoming staff and everything on the menu was yum!

I highly recommend this authentic Yemenite Resturant. I ordered chicken fahsah; sizzling hot traditional dish best to eat with tandoori roti which reminds me of back home. Second dish was lamb haneeth; meat was so tender perfect with basmati rice. As a desi; dipping every bite in the spicy tomato salsa fills the spice gap. Third dish was Lamb Kabsa; the meat was same as lamb haneeth but the rice were seasoned; very flavorful. The ambiance needs improvement but staff is really friendly. The Resturant is busy at all time; mostly take away orders. The food served is very fresh.

First time I am having yemeni food. I don't how authentic it was but definitely great food. I visited the place with some coworkers one of which is a frequent visitor. It is a small place. My coworker took care for ordering on behalf us. Within few minutes we got Rashoosh along with sahawiq sauce (guess I am remembering it properly). I can relate the bread like parotta (Paratha) in Indian cuisine. It was hot from the tandoor oven. After that we got lamb ghallaba. Then lamb fahsah came in hot (clay) pot. Meat was well cooked and kind of shredded. I was pretty full (most of us) having rashoosh, gallabha along with fahsah. Then also we got couple of plates of meat with rice (kabsah). I liked it but the flavor in the rice was less (may be used for biryani a lot). Guy serving the table had another special plate of it which was really good as having more flavors and little spicy. Then I came to know he was the owner. Service was really good which is the important thing. we shared food as we ordered multiple items. If not sharing then you may not be able to complete the big plates. It's always good to share. Yemeni tea is one more thing you shouldn't miss. Simple tea with some spices and sugar added. As I am getting introduced to yemeni menu for the first time, I might have not put right names. Also I missed to take pics after seeing hot and tasty food.

We were here for lunch after a long drive. The food is delicious, ambience casual and staff very hospitable. The bread is the heart of the meal- crisp, fresh and so well roasted in tandoor. Pairing with a spicy gravy entree is recommended. We had chicken ghallaba which was cooked to perfection. We asked for some extra spice and were promptly offered a spicy home made jalapeno tomato salsa. Mango is and strawberry smoothie- yumm and yemenese tea was a perfect finish. This is a perfect spot for casual dining and take out. Come again? Yes absolutely; and bringing friends along!

Amazing, authentic Yemen/ middle eastern food. Very good vegetarian option most of the breakfast can be lunch or dinner too. We ordered 2 kinds of bread (both were huge). 1 is enough for 2-3 people. 1- Rashoosh- Flacky layered bread (tastes like sound Indian parotta) - amazing. 2 - khubz- tawa - Indian style nan. - very good Sides 3 - fazoolia and eggs- thicker in consistency. Amazing combined with the bread. 4 - hummus with lamb - standard but very good. The place as such is decent, more towards a whole in the wall kind of place. You will feel you are in Yemen. The ppl are friendly and helpful.

Dearborn is the official Arabic food capital of the US, and if you happen to be in town, Arabian Village Restaurant is a must-visit. It's a Yemeni restaurant, and as far as I know, Yemeni cuisine is almost impossible to find outside of Dearborn and Brooklyn. Just for that alone, Arabia Village should be on your bucket list when visiting the Detroit area, for the unique foreign culture dining experience. The food here is 100% traditional, not the type that is mutated for tourists or decorated with carrots cut into the shape of flowers. Most of the dishes are rather savory, heavy but heart-warming, and spicy (not hot, but flavorful from being slow cooked with plenty of spices). The ambiance is also 100% authentic, with a "family room" on the side that is complete with curtains to add to the authenticity. To start our meal, we had the quintessential Maraq, a thin lamb and vegetable soup to whet the appetite. You can squeeze the lemon provided or add sahawiq, a Yemeni chutney made from fresh green chili, to add more flavor that suits your taste. Maraq was very different from the typical crushed lentil soup served at generic Arabic restaurants. Next, we moved onto something familiar and not so interesting, a House Salad, consisting of lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, cucumbers, almost like a forgettable dried-out version of fattoush. Shortly after, we received my favorite item of the night, a crispy flatbread with fluffy edges called Rashoosh. If you fold your yoga mat into three, that's the size of the rashoosh. What made it so memorable was the flaky texture of the bread, despite it being thick. The texture and mouthfeel reminded me a little of Chinese scallion pancakes. You want to eat rashoosh when it's straight out of the clay oven, just like naan. I found it to be extremely versatile, you can eat it on its own or use it as a dipping medium for the Yemeni stews. Next in the sequence was Chicken Galaya, a simple dish with chicken breast sauteed in onion, tomato and garlic. It's more spicy than it appears. You eat it with bread. At around the same time, our Fahsah arrived, which was a shredded lamb stew simmered in spices. It's considered the national dish of Yemen, somewhat thick and soupy. The experience was like tackling the soup base of Korean soondubu, except you dip bread into the gravy and wrap it with lamb. Not too long later, we exhausted the rashoosh and were given another type of bread that was more thin and not as tasty. But it wasn't used a much since our final dish was the Haneeth, a spiced rice dish topped with roasted lamb and potatoes. On the outside, the lamb had a charred skin and tasted like it was BBQ'd, and on the inside, the shoulder meat was incredibly tender. The rice appeared to be spiced with cardamom and possibly cinnamon, very similar in style to what I've eaten at Somali and Palestinian restaurants before. The meal closed with a complimentary cup of Yemeni tea, spiked with cardamom, cloves, and a fair amount of sugar. It's like a dessert itself. Overall, quite a heavy meal since it was carb and meat-heavy. But the food was incredibly cravable, I could not stop myself from dipping rashoosh into the different stews. Hospitality was excellent and exceeded expectations, the owner took good care of us. When we asked for a knife to cut the roasted lamb (since we were sharing), the busboy came back with 3 knives assuming we would each cut our own slice :)
